Nutrition

Dehydrated food is certainly the simplest and most complete in composition and provides the dog with all the nutrients in the right and necessary proportions. Pet center offers a large selection of dog food from renowned manufacturers of various price categories. Whether you choose super premium foods, such as Brit Care or premium foods like Alleve, knowing that your dog likes to eat, has no diarrhea and does not vomit and has healthy skin and hair confirms that the food is good. If you want to switch from one type of food to another, do it gradually in a period of one to two weeks. Mix new and old food, gradually increasing the amount of new so as not to burden the dog's digestive system. Quality dry dog food, in addition to being healthier for your dog, also results in a smaller and tidier stool. Buy only original packaging, not bulk food.

Only original packaging guarantees quality, declared content and correct expiration date. When choosing, make sure that the food corresponds to the age and size of your dog and possibly his special needs. It is recommended to feed an adult dog twice a day, always after a walk or physical activity. Provide your pet with their own food and water containers and always available fresh water. Dogs love to sniff and chew, so it will be difficult to resist that need, sometimes with undesirable consequences in your household. The Pet Center has a large selection of dog chews, some of which contain vitamins, minerals, some clean teeth, and the role of a treat as a reward for good behavior is always welcome.

Vaccination

Vaccination is extremely important for a dog's health. The first vaccination is performed in the period of 8-9 weeks of age, and the second from the age of 12 weeks. Puppies must not go for walks and socialize with other dogs for at least 14 days from the last vaccination against infectious diseases. According to the law, you are obliged to puppy and chip, which is best done during the first vaccination. Consult your veterinarian about the schedule of vaccinations and chipping. After the vaccination of the puppy, the adult dog should be revaccinated once a year against puppies, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus infection of dogs for the rest of their lives. The law obliges vaccination against rabies, for all dogs older than three months, during which the marking of the puppy is performed - microchipping.

Diseases

When your dog, otherwise lively and cheerful, becomes calm, withdrawn, sleepy for no reason, does not eat and is not interested in toys, or on the contrary is irritable, restless, and everything for no reason and purpose, it is time to worry about his health and visit veterinarian. There must be some changes in the body. During the disease, all processes in the body are more turbulent and stronger, which can be noticed by the increase of the Triassic; temperature, pulse and respiration. The temperature of a healthy dog at rest is, depending on the size and age of the dog, from 37.5-39 ° C, the measurement is always performed on a resting dog at least 1 hour after a meal, rectally with an ordinary thermometer for 3-4 minutes.

Fleas and ticks

Fleas bite and feed on blood, causing itching and irritation that can lead to health problems. There are several ways to treat a dog against fleas:

• Ampoules - the most effective preventive treatment; a small amount of liquid that you put on the dog's neck will destroy all fleas
• Powder - effective if used regularly and rubbed well into the fur
• Sprays - great for destroying fleas and ticks, and the only ones suitable for use on very young puppies, older than 10 days
• Shampoo - bathing with insecticidal effect

A dog can pick up fleas anywhere. In order to eliminate them, in addition to the dog, you must also treat the whole house - carpets, curtains, parquet, blankets and the dog's bed. It is very important to treat the dog against both internal and external parasites at the same time, because fleas transmit some of the developmental forms of tapeworms. If you have several animals in the house, we advise you to treat all animals against parasites at the same time.

In addition to fleas, ticks are also a danger - external parasites that feed on blood, and can be carriers of serious infectious diseases. Protection is also carried out with sprays, ampoules, protective collars, etc. Preparations against external parasites are usually of a wide spectrum of action, so they can be used in both invasions - fleas and ticks.

You can remove ticks with special tweezers that you can buy at the Pet Center. Be sure to remove the tick completely. Do not just pull the tick with tweezers, but gently rotate it first. You can also use some of the insecticides that are not harmful to dogs and leave the tick to fall off on its own. You can also use a trick with oil or alcohol to help. Every 3-6 months, clean your pet from intestinal parasites, and monthly protect your pet against ticks, fleas and other external parasites.
